Description

The Ubiquiti EdgeMAX EdgeRouter 12 (ER-12) is a high-performance enterprise routing platform designed for advanced network environments requiring high throughput, multi-port connectivity, and flexible traffic segmentation. It integrates routing and limited switching functionality within a single compact EdgeOS-powered device.

The router provides 10 Gigabit Ethernet RJ45 ports for local network distribution and 2 SFP ports for fiber uplink connectivity, making it suitable for hybrid copper-fiber network architectures. This allows deployment in enterprise edge networks, ISP aggregation points, and complex branch office infrastructures.

Powered by a 4-core 1 GHz MIPS64 processor and 1 GB of RAM, the ER-12 is capable of handling high-volume traffic processing with hardware-accelerated forwarding. It supports advanced routing features including NAT, firewall rules, VLAN segmentation, and policy-based routing for granular traffic control.

The device delivers up to approximately 3.4 million packets per second processing performance and up to 6.8–8 Gbps throughput depending on packet size and configuration, making it suitable for high-demand networking scenarios such as VPN aggregation, multi-site routing, and enterprise LAN distribution.

It also includes passive PoE support on selected ports, enabling power delivery to compatible devices such as access points or network appliances without additional injectors. The EdgeOS interface provides both a graphical UI and CLI-based configuration, giving flexibility for both administrators and advanced network engineers.
